Bat safari brought new nature discoveries in Beijers park
Around forty Malmö residents saw and heard the park’s bats.
With guide Stefan Viktorsson and bat detectors, participants identified four confirmed species: Nathusius’s pipistrelle, soprano pipistrelle, northern bat and common noctule. According to Malmö environmental strategist Birgitta Gisby, Nathusius’s pipistrelle had not previously been recorded in Beijers park, and the sighting was now registered on Artportalen. The fully booked safari took place within the EU-co-funded Urban Biodiversity Parks project.
